2004 Service Flap (S-59)

| The 2004 service flap was the 10th in the service flap line of patches. It used the concept of the actual loggerhead snapping turtle and is only the second flap in the history of the lodge to have two turtles on a single flap. The three OA sashes representing the three levels of membership were displayed on this flap. The youth had discussed this in the past but this is the first flap that actually incorperated them on a flap. There are two red fleur-de-leis, one on each side of the 202. The CHICKSA 202 is outlined in red stitching. There is a dogwood blossom between the two center numbers that represent the year 2004 and the words CHEERFUL and SERVICE are present as on other service flaps. The 3-Ws are a different style than have been used before. These are kind of a modern font and one is placed in each of the upper corners and the third in the lower point of the flap sort of "fenced off" by each of the sashes. This flap was awarded to the arrowmen who turned in an application accompanied by a statement of at least 100 hours of service in the different areas as perscribed by the service committee guidelines. There were 86 of these flaps presented to the recipients and the others were destroyed. This flap was designed by Cory Bolen. Again, I think 5 flaps were put in the lodge collection. |
