Millenniun Flap #1 (S-40)
Millenniun Flap #1

The new millennium brought about many opportunities to the patch field in BSA. The idea of a three flap set was proposed to the LEC by Nicky Johnston who presented the design for the three flaps as color pencil drawings that had been prepared by John Larson and himself. The LEC approved the drawings and set the number to be purchased at 500. They were first sold on 11/12/99 at the Fall Fellowship which was held at Camp Yocona. The design incorperates the basic elements of the lodge's previous flaps with a few new ones. The loggerhead snapping turtle, the two dogwood blossoms, the three Ws, and the arrow with CHICKSA 202 on it are standards on Chicksa's lodge flaps. The state flag has been used on some flaps and was considered important to have on this one. The sun rising signifies the dawning of the new millennium and the turtle is starting his journey to cross the bridge to the other side of the river, which signifies the new millennium. The year in the lower right corner is significant of the starting of the countdown to the new millennium and the hand is a Chickasaw Indian symbol for long life. It was placed on this flap to wish our lodge and BSA a long life. The other two flaps in this set have not been ordered yet but will be added to this page when they have reached the lodge members.
