Ghost Flap Information Page

The "ghost flap" idea was conceived in 1994 to be instituted as a fund raiser and to have a trading flap to take to conclave of the coming year. At conclave, there were several other lodges that had "ghost" patches from their respective lodges. The first year of the "ghost" flap, the Chicksa 202 flap was completely white, a true ghost. The response to the "ghost" flap was good and the "ghost flap" lived on. In 1996, the color of the flap was green but the turtle was given a red eye after the traditional red eye that had been on the lodge flaps for so many years. For the 1997 "ghost" flap, the color was voted to be red but the red eye would not be visible on the red turtle. To keep the eye visible even on the "ghost" flap, it was voted to make the eye yellow on that issue. The insignia committee met at our annual banquet in January of 1999 and decided to have the ghost flap for the coming conclave a blue flap. Again, the turtle had a red eye. This is a standard and will be continued. Blue is an important color in the history of our lodge, so it was appropriate.
