1998 Conclave Host Flap (S-35)

1998 Conclave Host Flap

The 1998 conclave for SR-8A was held at Camp Yocona in April of 1998. Chicksa 202 was the host lodge and the insignia committee thought it apporpriate to have a host lodge flap. The "dancing turtle" was a favorite totum of the lodge so it was voted by the LEC to use it on this important lodge flap. The "dancing turtle" was first used on a jacket patch that was sold in 1995. The theme of the conclave was "Mississippi Homecoming" since SR-8A was comprised of Mississippi lodges, with the exception of the Mississippi Delta region which has become part of Chickasaw Council headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. The basic design is the same as the 1998 lodge service flap with a red border instead of the black border as on the service flap. The original plan of the insignia committee was to have the flap as it appears but with a green border since we have not had a green border on a flap since the S-8. The company that did the patch work thought there was a mistake on the order and made up the flap with the borders that were current at the time on the three flap set of the red, blue, and white borders. The lodge received 200 of the red border flaps with lesser amounts of the blue and white border versions. The insignia committee voted to sell the red borders and deal with the supplier on the others. All the original 200 were sold at the conclave. The owner of the company was at our conclave and said that he would take the blue bordered and white bordered flaps and "reborder" them to make them match the red border flaps. NONE OF THE FLAPS WITH THE BLUE OR WHITE BORDERS WERE SOLD AND SHOULD NOT BE IN EXISTANCE AT THIS TIME. The total number of the red bordered host flaps will be added to this page when the final shipment arrives and is sold.
