2002 Conclave Flap (S-53)
2002 Conclave Flap

The Lodge Insignia Committee decided at the annual lodge banquet in January to have the design of the conclave flap for the upcoming conclave be as close to the original S-8 flap as possible. The 2002 Conclave Flap was designed by Ben Pharr with the S-8 Watermelon flap as a guide. The symbolism is the same as the original S-8 but the wording at the bottom of the flap was added to commemorate it as the conclave flap. IF you compare the S-8 and this flap, you will see there is a difference in the basic shape of the flap and the turtle is the new style turtle, like on the 2001 service flap. There were 500 of these flaps ordered and they were first offered for sale at the conclave held at Camp Crooked Creek near Louisville, Kentucky. The date of the first sale was 4/26/02 and they sold out before the conclave was over.
